TMJ and Jaw Pain Treatment in Stillwater, MN.
Jaw pain is rarely just a jaw problem. It is usually a neck, breath, and stress pattern problem that shows up at the TMJ. Treating the system, not just the joint, is what makes it better.
What TMJ pain is.
TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. TMJ pain includes jaw pain, clicking or popping with mouth opening, limited mouth opening, clenching or grinding, headaches related to the jaw, and ear pain that is not actually coming from the ear. It often coexists with neck pain, headaches, and stress patterns.
When to seek physical therapy.
- • Jaw clicking, popping, or locking
- • Pain with chewing, yawning, or talking
- • Headaches that worsen with clenching or grinding
- • Limited mouth opening
- • Ear pain that has been cleared by an ENT
- • Neck pain that comes with jaw pain
- • Stress-related clenching or grinding
How physical therapy helps.
Hands-on manual therapy of the jaw, neck, and surrounding tissues. Dry needling where indicated. Postural and breath retraining. Education on how to manage clenching and grinding. Coordination with your dentist if you wear a night guard or splint. Most clients see meaningful change in 4 to 8 visits.
What to expect.
60 minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Bethany. Full assessment of the jaw, neck, and breath. Hands-on treatment, a take-home program, and a clear plan from the first session.
Hi, I am Dr. Bethany Reuter.
I started Enhance PT because I was tired of watching patients get rushed through their care. After years in traditional clinics, I knew there was a better way to practice physical therapy. One where the person on the table actually came first.
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy with advanced training in pelvic health, orthopedics, dry needling, visceral manipulation, and concussion rehabilitation. I treat every client like the only client on my schedule, because for that hour, they are.
If you have been brushed off, told to just live with it, or shuffled between providers who do not talk to each other, I want you to know there is another path. And I would be honored to walk it with you.
